NNPCF Regional Director – North East
Location: Home-based, with occasional regional and national travel, including overnight stays where required.
Hours: Contracted for 30 days (210 hours) per year, with additional hours available for agreed national and regional work. Further information is available in the NNPCF Board Member Hours and Meeting Commitments – Additional Guidance.
Rate of Pay: £23.10 per hour.
The National Network of Parent Carer Forums (NNPCF) is seeking a parent carer to join its Board as the North East Regional Director.
This is an exciting opportunity to represent the voices and experiences of parent carers across the North East, influencing SEND policy and practice at both a regional and national level.
As a Regional Director, you will work with Parent Carer Forums, the Department for Education, NHS colleagues and other stakeholders to ensure that parent carer experiences help shape decision-making and improve outcomes for children and young people with SEND.
About the Role
Key responsibilities include:
- Building relationships with Parent Carer Forums across the North East.
- Facilitating regional engagement and feedback opportunities at least once per term.
- Representing parent carer views at regional and national meetings.
- Contributing to the strategic direction, governance and work of the NNPCF.
- Working collaboratively with fellow Board Members and key SEND stakeholders.
The role is home-based and averages approximately 4–5 hours per week across the year. It includes regular virtual meetings, regional engagement activities and occasional national travel, including attendance at Planning Days and the annual NNPCF and Contact Conference.
Who We Are Looking For
Applicants must:
- Be a parent or carer of a child or young person with SEND aged 0-25.
- Have a good understanding of Parent Carer Forums and the SEND system.
- Be passionate about co-production and improving outcomes for families.
- Have strong communication, organisational and relationship-building skills.
- Be able to work independently and as part of a national team.
- Have experience of leadership, governance or strategic partnership working

The interview panel will comprise Jo Harrison, NNPCF Co-Chair and East of England Regional Director, Martin McAndrews, Regional Director for North West, and a North East regional representative (to be confirmed).
